Tom McGinnis- Champaign and Effingham Chapter

The Champaign area is looking to be very busy this Spring and the workload is expected to go into the summer months.

Some of the jobs currently going on are:

Thomas Paine School, Pacifica apartment Building Champaign, Raising Canes, Starbucks in Paris, Danville Landfill, Armstrong Ellis Junior High, Hospice House in Mattoon, Casino in Danville.

Upcoming projects are:   Clark Lindsey, Danville 2nd phase Wastewater Restoration, Urbana High School Band Room, Danville Magnet addition, Tuscola High School repair, Parkland Courtyard, Quick Trip Champaign, Salt Fork High School repairs Danville North Ridge, Take 5 in Danville, Champaign Co. Jail, UIF Campus, Champaign Library, VA Danville tile work.

The Effingham area contractors are also expecting a busy Spring and Summer.

 Current jobs in the Effingham area are:   Hershey addition in Robinson, Quick Trip in Effingham, Norris Electric in Newton, South Side School in Effingham.

Upcoming projects in the area are:   Dieterich School, Dieterich Family Center, Dieterich Bank sign, Doctor’s office in Effingham “Sarah Bush”.

Jason Atwood – Springfield/Jacksonville

Work has begun and will continue with a busy workload for everyone.  One major project of $225 million is underway at the Capitol Building in Springfield. It consists of updating the facilities on the north wing of the statehouse while also building a Conference Center and providing more parking underneath the Stratton Building. Renovation and preservation on the historic Old State Capitol will get a boost of $15.1 million in work as well. The Coliseum is nearing completion and will be ready for events soon at the Illinois State. Work continued throughout the winter at Quincy Veterans Home and is going strong with air barrier, masonry and precast being installed. As well as a water loop project at the Veterans water treatment plant that is scheduled for an early spring start date.         

SUMMING IT UP ... 2023 is already starting out at being a very busy year for the Local and we anticipate needing more manpower than we currently have.  If you know anyone that is working non-union or young adults looking to join a union, let us know! We are always trying to organize and recruit new and past members into the BAC Trowel Trades. Remember there is a PAY incentive for current members who refer journey workers to BAC 8. Remember we have a goal to remain steady.
